Marin County's Aging and Adult Services' Financial Abuse Specialist Team ( FAST) educates older adults on how to avoid scams, fraud, identity theft , and financial abuse . FAST gives community presentations filled with available resources and information anywhere that older adults, or those who care about older adults, congregate. FAST has materials available in the Spanish Language format.
FAST also assists local social service agencies and Law Enforcement entities investigate suspected financial abuse through documenting , reviewing, and analyzing financial records. These investigative referrals to FAST must be made by Adult Protective Services or Law Enforcement.
FAST partners with the Marin County District Attorney's Office, the County Public Guardian Office , Adult Protective Services , Ombudsman, and the Area Agency on Aging. The Team itself is comprised of 20 volunteers from the Marin County community with backgrounds in law, accounting, banking and related professional fields.
